Where Have I Been Lately?

Been very busy lately. I totally ran out of blog ideas. My mind is in a state of disarray. I wish I could just pull myself together this very moment and start doing things. I need to prepare for lots of things this Christmas but I'm still such in a mess!

By the way, I highly recommend the cartoon movie "The Incredibles". Really entertaining, totally fun! It's a must see film. Pixar, you did it again! My hats off to you.

Last Song Syndrome

I'm sure everyone knows how it is to be under last song syndrome (defined as singing repeatedly and unconsciously the last song heard). Pretty much lately, I've been singing at work the songs of Barney. Even my hubby does, too. Check out this song, this is Cheska & Koojee's favorite (they sing it with emotions plus actions, koojee only sings the "sun" part):

Oh Mister Sun, Sun, Mister Golden Sun,
Please shine down on me
Oh Mister Sun, Sun, Mister Golden Sun,
Hiding behind the tree
These little children are asking you,
To please come down so we can play with you,
Oh Mister Sun, Sun, Mister Golden Sun,
Please shine down on... Please shine down on...
Please shine down on me...

Our Typical Family Day

Every Sunday is family day. After lunch time, I would tell the kids "We're going to the mall so you better get a nap". Cheska, even if she doesn't feel like it, would force herself to sleep. Koojee would normally doze off in an instant because he is used to naps after his lunch. Around 3 pm, they would wake up energized and beaming with excitement. Their nannies would dress them up with their favorite clothes. And off we go to the mall.

Our normal routine at the mall: Our first stop is the kiddie rides. Their all-time favorite is the carousel. Their other favorites are balloon wheel and zoo animal rides. After the rides, we proceed to the grocery. What is it with little kids and grocery carts? They seem to love the ride. But I do hear accidents happen a lot, so I never leave the children unattended. After the grocery, we now go to their favorite food chain ... Mc Donald's!

Cheska just loves their french fries and the toys that go with the happy meal. Koojee on the other hand just loves the playland area. He would just play there the whole time. He's having the time of his life with other kids.

Seeing my kids' faces whenever they're happy and excited gives me an inner glow. It's something money could never buy. A day spent with the whole family, exhausting it may be, gives me a sense of satisfaction. I feel that I had made my kids feel important. I have made them feel loved. It's really important that my kids get to experience a wonderful childhood as I have gone through a superb one myself.

At the end of the day, I silently pray "Thank you God for family day".

For the Love of Cartoons

I'm a self-professed cartoon addict. I don't know if there's an age limit for adoring them the way I do but I sure hope it won't be sooner. Just for the heck of it, this post is dedicated to all the cartoon shows I loved before... and my kids' faves, too.

MY FAVORITE CARTOON / KIDDIE SHOWS AND CHARACTERS WHEN I WAS A KID:
Sesame Street- Ernie (My first real memory of watching a kiddie show on our black & white TV!)
Batibot – Pong Pagong (bwahahaha) he was really cute that time.
Uncle Bob’s Lucky Seven Club – I’m only craving after the toy prizes they give out. But I like Uncle Bob, too.
Voltron- Princess Allura
Voltes V- Jamie (?) I’m not even sure of the name of the only girl in the team.
Super Book- Angie
Flying House – Duh I forgot all their names.
Thunder Cats- Cheetarah
He Man - Sorceress
Care Bears & Care Bear Cousins – I'm funshine bear and lotsa heart elephant... "Care Bears, STARE!"
Smurfs – Smurfette (who else?)
Sleeping Beauty – my favorite of all Disney Princesses. Until now, bestfriend and I, are still up on our fight on who Princess Aurora should be.
Chip n Dale – totally cute! I think I’m Chip and Bestfriend is Dale.
Tom & Jerry – Jerry is my favorite (typical!)
Peter Pan – I like Wendy. I hate Tinkerbell ( no offense to fairies!)
Rainbow Brite – I’m Shy Violet , Bestfriend is Lala Orange, Sister is Patty O’ Green

MY KIDS’ FAVORITES
Barney – this purple dinosaur is top on their list. They even kiss the TV Screen whenever Barney is on. Their chant is always on my head “Barney! Barney! Barney!”.
Elmo’s World – this red orange Sesame Street puppet is really adorable. Even his voice is so cute “Lalalala… lalalala… Elmo’s World”. His buddy Zoe is equally lovable.
Lilo & Stitch - I love the way my daughter pronounces “Lee-low”
Bananas In Pyjamas – cheska’s lunchtime favorite
Blue’s Clues - Their aunt gave them a thinking chair for xmas 2 yrs ago.
Monsters, Inc. – first cartoon movie they watched full-length.

I have yet to introduce them to “Teletubies”, “Dora the explorer” and all the Disney Cartoon Classics I have always loved.

Oh Dear Lord, when am I gonna stop watching cartoons? Will I still love them when I’m 30? Will the child in me ever gonna grow old?

All about Sleep

Sleep is one of the best things in life which is for free. Ironic but it is one luxury which is so hard to afford nowadays. With my little boy having insomnia and night terrors, whoever could get a healthy 8-hours sleep? My little girl on the other hand who is a lot more manageable has a bedtime past midnight. It’s such a relief though that the little girl likes to sleep in her Grandparents’ room whenever they’re in town.

I would sometimes ask the nanny if my boy could sleep with her just for
the night--- just so I could catch up with my much needed rest and so I wont look and act like a zombie at work the following day. (Note: I am genetically cursed with eyebags and dark circles around my eyes--- so my appearance really depends on my sleep).

Last night, got my luxury sleep without having to sacrifice sleeping beside my boy. Well, he slept like a baby (literally and figuratively speaking!). Thank goodness! As my body is scheduled to normally wake at dawn (around 3 or 4am) to turn off the AC and go to the bathroom. It suddenly occurred to me while yawning my way to the bed that sleep is indeed a wonderful thing. Not only because it is a necessity to the human body like water and air, but because during sleep, I am entering a totally different dimension. I feel like im in a different world. It’s a world where emotions are high and I feel that my spirits are soaring. Call me weird or lazy but I prefer sleeping than going out Saturday nights. Or am I just approaching my midlife phase? Yikes...

Well, going back to much talk about my favorite pasttime, it is truly one thing on my "COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS" list. Thank you God for sleep.
