Happy 6th Wedding Anniversary, Hubby!

Today is our 6th wedding anniversary. Can't believe we've been together that long already. Sometimes, though I feel that we've been together for like forever--- it just wouldn't be the same without him anymore.

Dear God, thank you for the six wonderful years with hubby. He has been one of the most beautiful blessings you have given me. I pray that we will spend our entire lifetime together and may we have more and more anniversaries to come!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy mother's day to all the moms out there especially to the best mothers I've always known, my Mommy and my Lola.

Thoughts about my Mom:

When I was little child, I wasn't very close to my mom. I grew up as a Daddy's girl and my mom wasn't always around because she was the career parent. But as I grew into an adult, I slowly got closer to her. Finally, when I became a mother myself, I understood her well and appreciated more and more as I went through motherhood and all its hardships, pain and challenges. My mother is very different from other moms who would teach you all the normal things you needed to know like etiquette, manners and all those stereotypes. But I learned a lot from her even so because she taught me all the practical things in life I needed to know. I would always remember how she would tell us to brush our teeth everynight, how she would always tell us not to borrow money from other people, and how she would always prioritize putting food on the table than buying other luxurious items. I never remember ever speaking back at her because I have so much respect for her. She is a very practical, frank and strong person. She is indeed one of my heroes.

Thoughts about my Lola:

I was very close to my Lola as a child. I was her first apo which is why she always doted on me. Until now, she's still the great Lola I've always known. She brings me food almost every morning, she's always there when I needed help with sewing or cooking , she's still fond of giving me fancy things and she's always supportive of me and even my kids. I'll be forever grateful to my dear Lola because of everything she did for me and all that she's given me.

I will also remember on this special day, a very special mother who also once became my second mom, my confidante, my friend --- HAPPY MOM'S DAY TO YOU, AUNTIE MALIA...

Food Galore

I love to eat. Even if my thin figure says otherwise, I really love to explore on different types of food. In fact I told my cousin once that I think one of my dream jobs is to be a food critic. When you come to Davao, everyone would tell you to eat at Harana if you want barbecue or anything grilled, Sarung Banggi if you want steak, Entree if you want to have a classy buffet, Jack's Ridge if you want an overlooking-the-city view, Tsuru if you want Japanese and the list goes on. There are a few restaurants though that serves delectable meals but at a cheaper price. Some are even located at very unusual locations and yet they still get a good number of diners. Here are some of my latest discoveries:
  • Garden Fresca - Specialties: Adobong Tahong and Spare ribs Address: Coca Cola Village,Davao City
  • Pia's Cafe - Specialties: Kare-kare and pancakes Address: Quimpo Blvd., D. C.
  • Ombu Chicken - Specialties: Greaseless Chicken (Molave Style) Address: Sequoia Inn, Monteverde St., DC

Can't wait to try another new restaurant. I'm getting hungry already. Happy eating!
