Bet You Could Lose Weight
Last January, Hubby and four other officemates started this bet or contest on losing weight. They all gave a thousand bucks each as pot money and whoever loses the most weight in 3 months takes all--- meaning if he wins he gets to keep 5k! There were actually 10 of them on the original list but most of them chickened out during the weigh- in day. Could you imagine if all of them joined, the winner gets 10k!!!
Well anyway, I'll let you in on Hubby's program:
1. Diet. On weekdays, he can only eat fish, vegetables and 1 cup of rice per meal. He only drinks water, coffee (no sugar, but with cream) and tea. During breakfast, he only has coffee and oatmeal. But on weekends, he gets to eat chicken, a little of pork or beef, plus he can have an extra rice treat. Also he gets a "license" to eat normal during special occasions and parties. So it's really not a super strict diet. Just a little added self-control.
2. Exercise. Well, this is not actually something he had to add to his weekly routine because he's always been into sports. But he actually added 2 more days to his usual once-a-week basketball game. And, during his first month of weight-losing, he woke up at around 4 am and jogged. We eliminated this one out after hubby started getting dizzy at work. We wouldn't want to overdo it and have him getting sick over a contest.
3. Vitamins. He still takes Vitamin C although not religiously. This will help strengthen his immune system despite the changes that his body is undergoing right now.
Well, that's basically it. So far he's already lost a total of 8 kilos (and still counting!). I think it's really just more of determination and self-discipline. If you were to ask me, I'd honestly say that at the beginning I was really skeptical that he could actually lose that much weight in 3 months time. But look at him now, he actually looks just like when I first met him.
Final judgment will be on April 6. Wish him luck!
